About the Author

Hi, I'm Felicity. I'm a community development and engagement worker with many years of experience building social infrastructure in Southeast Queensland.

But I didn't start here. I grew up in small business, worked corporate financial services, owned businesses, farmed. I've seen systems from multiple angles before finding my fit in community services, where making systems work for people, not just on them, became my focus.

Over the years, I've worked alongside local government, developers, and grassroots community groups to design and deliver programs that actually serve the people who need them. Managing community centres and delivering hundreds of community events showed me how systems can either empower communities or leave them carrying burdens they never signed up for.

My work centres on helping people find their voice in decisions that affect their lives, co-designing programs, ensuring development projects serve communities, supporting new associations and sporting clubs. I also serve as a volunteer board member for a youth organisation, continuing my commitment to participatory practice.

This breadth of experience taught me to spot patterns across systems. With artificial intelligence, I recognised something familiar: exciting promises followed by communities left navigating consequences alone. Our AI grew from my journey to understand what was really happening behind the headlines, professional insight meeting personal exploration.

I've written this in a warm, conversational style that reflects my commitment to making complex ideas accessible. Together, we'll explore how artificial intelligence is reshaping trust, responsibility, and human agency and what it means for all of us.
